Creating Trauma-Informed Pathways to Work: Our New Partnership with ‘We Thrive’

At Choices, we know that recovering from domestic abuse isn’t just about surviving — it’s about rebuilding. And for many women, that includes returning to work, restarting careers, or exploring new professional pathways that feel safe, purposeful, and fulfilling.

That’s why we’re thrilled to announce a powerful new partnership between Choices and We Thrive, a trauma-informed recruitment consultancy founded by the brilliant Sarah Brown.

A Shared Commitment to Doing Things Differently

We Thrive is not your average recruitment agency. Led by Sarah — a certified trauma-informed recruiter and Ambassador for the Employers Initiative on Domestic Abuse (EIDA) — We Thrive puts care, safety, and wellbeing at the heart of the recruitment process. It’s a values-driven organisation that understands the unique barriers and strengths that survivors of abuse may experience when re-entering the workplace.

Sarah’s personal and professional journey is deeply inspiring. She was also a participant in our Flying High career coaching programme — and described it as life-changing. That experience planted the seed for this new collaboration, grounded in mutual respect and a shared commitment to trauma-informed practice.

Specialist Career Coaching for Survivors of Domestic Abuse

Through this partnership, Choices will provide specialist coaching and employability support to the women placed into roles via We Thrive. Our trauma-informed team will offer structured, evidence-based support that draws on our expertise in:

  • Career development after abuse

  • Trauma-informed coaching

  • Occupational psychology

  • Workplace wellbeing

Our goal is to create a safe, empowering environment where survivors can build confidence, rediscover their strengths, and take meaningful steps forward in their careers. Every coaching session is tailored to the individual, recognising both the personal impact of trauma and the potential for post-traumatic growth.

Building a Better Future — Together

This partnership represents something powerful: a new model for how recruitment, coaching, and career development can work together to support women affected by domestic abuse.

It’s about more than getting a job. It’s about building a future.

We’re proud to walk alongside We Thrive to offer a truly trauma-informed pathway into good work — one that recognises not just the challenges women face after abuse, but also their resilience, skills, and potential.

If you're a survivor looking for support with your career, or an employer interested in making your recruitment practices more inclusive and trauma-aware, we’d love to hear from you.
